Scientists Across the World Reject Ideological Environmentalism
Prof. Ivar Giaever is one of the most prominent scientists cited in the 2007 Minority Report of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (updated in subsequent years until 2010). He is professor emeritus at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, and at the University of Oslo, as well as a Nobel Laureate in Physics in 1973. He is among the 400 “dissenting scientists” who issued a position paper denouncing the “global warming” myth (that number has risen to more than 1,000).
He was also one of over one hundred signatories of the letter of March 30, 2009 to President Barack Obama, criticizing his stance on global warming.
Prof. Giaever says that “global warming” and the “ills of deforestation” have become “dogmas” of radical ecology: “Global warming has become a new religion.” While one often hears about the large number of scientists who support this new religion, he says their number does not matter. What matters is to know whether they are correct.
He adds that many doomsday prophecies such as acid rain 30 years ago, the ozone hole 10 years ago, and deforestation have failed to materialize. No one actually knows what real effect human activity has on global temperature.
In 2007, the American Physical Society (APS) officially adopted the position that which human activities are changing the Earth’s climate: “The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth’s physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now.”
Prof. Giaever sent an e-mail to APS director Kate Kirby, explaining that he “could not live” with that statement because “the temperature has been amazingly stable”: “The claim (how can you measure the average temperature of the whole earth for a whole year?) is, that the temperature has changed from ~288.0 to ~288.8 degree Kelvin in about 150 years, which (if true) means to me is that the temperature has been amazingly stable, and both human health and happiness have definitely improved in this ‘warming’ period.” He denounced that it is ok in the APS to discuss all kinds of scientific issues except for one, which is taboo. And he asks, “is the evidence of global warming incontrovertible?”
On September 13, 2011, Prof. Giaever resigned as a Fellow from the American Physical Society (APS) in disgust over the group’s promotion of man-made global warming fears. Many others went even further in their opposition to global warming and its adepts. For example, meteorologist William Gray, a pioneer in hurricane forecasting, stated: “Global warming is a hoax! We’ll look back on all of this in 10 or 15 years and realize how foolish it was.”
Prof. Ivar Giaever and meteorologist William Gray are not the only ones who dissent from the conventional mantra on global warming: “There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.” This categorical statement was signed by no fewer than 31,478 American scientists and annexed as an appendix to the document titled “Climate Change Reconsidered: The 2009 Report of the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC).” Its 868 pages had 35 contributors and reviewers from 14 countries. This is the most comprehensive and objective compilation ever published on available science on climate change. This report goes even further because it denounces that the media generally hide dissenting opinions on the UN governmental panel.
So the reader can gauge the massive fraud being perpetrated and imposed on public opinion on behalf of the environmentalist dogma, below are a few statements by authoritative figures of the scientific world compiled by the blog, Green: the New Color of Communism.
1. There Is No Scientific Proof of Global Warming
“So far, real measurements give no ground for concern about a catastrophic future warming”— Dr. Jarl R. Ahlbeck, a chemical engineer at Abo Akademi University in Finland, author of 200 scientific publications and former Greenpeace member.
“Over the past few years, similar signs of colder than usual weather have been recorded all over the world, causing many people to question the still fashionable, but now long outdated, global warming alarmism” –Robert M. Carter, professor of geology at the James Cook University in Australia.
“Global warming — at least the modern nightmare vision — is a myth. I am sure of it and so are a growing number of scientists. But what is really worrying is that the world’s politicians and policy makers are not” – Prof. David Bellamy, Daily Mail, July 2004.
“The Earth has cooled since 1998 in defiance of the predictions by the IPCC….The global temperature for 2007 was the coldest in a decade and the coldest of the millennium…which is why ‘global warming’ is now called ‘climate change’” – Climatologist Dr. Richard Keen of the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Colorado.
“When I say that we very likely find ourselves in a cooling process, I do it based on data. They have invented the story that CFCs were destroying the ozone layer, and now the formula is the same: climate terrorism like the so-called global warming”— Luiz Carlos Baldicero Molion, professor of meteorology at the Federal University of Alagoas, Brazil.
“It is ridiculous to tie this objective to a ‘consensus’ that humans are causing global warming when human experience, geologic data and history, and current cooling can argue otherwise. ‘Consensus’, as many have said, merely represents the absence of definitive science”— Dr. Harrison ‘Jack’ Schmitt, a geologist and former astronaut.
“I’ve often heard it said that there is a consensus of thousands of scientists on the global warming issue, and that humans are causing catastrophic change to the climate system. Well, I am one scientist, and there are many, that simply think that is not true” – Prof. John Christy, Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences, University of Alabama.
“It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there are only fringe scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming” – Stanley B. Goldenberg, hurricane expert from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.”
“The German weather bureau has temperature records going back as far as 1701. We found nearly as many cooling trends as warming trends – giving an overall temperature change that is so small as to be best described as temperature stability. Contrary to computer based scenarios – and hence contrary to what is generally believed – anthropogenic CO2 is meaningless because its influence is not recognizable” – Dr. Friedrich-Karl Ewert, geologist at the UN convention on climate change in Bonn, Sept. 7, 2010.
“I am convinced that the current alarm over carbon dioxide is mistaken…Fears about man-made global warming are unwarranted and are not based on good science” – Award Winning Physicist Dr. Will Happer, Professor at the Department of Physics, Princeton University.
“Whatever the weather, it’s not being caused by global warming. If anything, the climate may be starting into a cooling period” – Atmospheric scientist Dr. Arthur V. Douglas, former Chair of the Atmospheric Sciences Department at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
“Since 1998, none of the reference databases have shown a temperature increase, whether global or on the upper layer of the oceans” – Prof. José Joaquim Delgado Domingos, of Lisbon’s Instituto Superior Técnico.
“For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming? For how many years must cooling go on?” – Geologist Dr. David Gee, professor emeritus at the Uppsala University in Sweden.
“Man-made global warming movement is nothing more than a ‘corrupt social phenomenon.’ It is as much psychological and social phenomenon as anything else” – Dr. Denis Rancourt, former professor at the University of Ottawa.
“All those urging action to curb global warming need to take off the blinkers and give some thought to what we should do if we are facing global cooling instead” – Geophysicist Dr. Philip K. Chapman, astronautic engineer and former NASA astronaut, served as staff physicist at the MIT.
