A lecture about the Amazon Synod was held in Vienna on October 19. This event, promoted by the Österreichische Gesellschaft zum Schutz von Tradition, Familie und Privateigentum (Austrian Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property, TFP), took place after the conference on the same topic promoted by in Rome the Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira Institute.
The lecture, titled “The Synod of Great Ruptures,” was given by Mr. Benno Hofschulte, President of the Austrian TFP. The select audience included two priests and a group of Slovaks who came from the neighboring country for the event.
Mr. Hofschulte focused on the major disruptions promoted by the Amazon Synod, from its Instrumentum laboris to statements of several of its promoters, which show a pantheistic flavor opposed to traditional Church doctrine. He emphasized some of the many ruptures promoted at the Synod: theological, philosophical, anthropological, missionary, ecclesiological, sacramental, and civilizational.
The various questions asked at the end of the lecture showed that people are mainly concerned about knowing what to do in the terrible situation which the Holy Catholic Church is going through. The answer, of course, is, first, never to leave Holy Mother Church at all; and second, to resist orientations opposed to her traditional doctrine.
A lively conversation followed during the cocktail served at the end of the event.
