The texts and illustrations of the Way of the Cross presented by REPAM are beyond words.

They seek to identify the Passion of Our Divine Redeemer, by which He redeemed all men from the original sin committed by our first Parents, with pagan customs of aboriginal peoples and the environment.

This Way of the Cross confuses the creation with the Creator and badly smacks of pantheism, in which everything is god. Furthermore, it presents Our Lord Jesus Christ merely as a “valiant” man who opposed the powerful of his time.

Those who pray this Way of the Cross will end up contaminated by a vision of a non-transcendent, material god ‘incarnated’ only in peoples that have not received the message of the Gospel. They will also remain untouched by civilizing progress.

In short, they are being called to give up civilization and return to a tribal state.

What does this have to do with the One who said “Without Me you can do nothing”?

Way of the Cross by REPAM (excerpts)

0     Holy Week is a living reminder of the firm and courageous choice of Jesus to give his life for his sisters and brothers so they have possibilities for the future.

Today in the Amazon region  and amidst the diversity of its peoples, the liberating project of the incarnation of Jesus is present more than ever in women and men who give themselves out of love to the point of giving up their lives.

Knowing that the cross is a possible consequence of loving life and justice but that it will never be the end, but the way to a new life.

Second Station - Jesus Carries the Cross

2 “All former economic models have crumbled. The life proposal of the Indigenous peoples has been maintained and remains alive.”

Tenth Station - Jesus Is Stripped of His Garments

10The Western system values money and destroys nature and harmony. It destroys water for money. What are we going to do when the money runs out? We will go hungry, we will be sick in spirit.”

Eleventh Station - Jesus Is Nailed to the Cross

11“The cry of the earth is the cry of the poor and oppressed.”

Twelfth Station - Jesus Dies on the Cross

12The earth does not belong to us. We ARE THE EARTH. We are fighting to be able to continue existing.”

“Fifteenth station - Resurrection of Jesus”

15“New paths for the Church from the proposal of Integral Ecology: Everything is connected. We need a HUMAN CONVERSION of the heart and an ECOLOGICAL CONVERSION. It is a task of every Catholic and every person of goodwill.”

wEncounter Jesus in the doubt and sorrow of a raped, mistreated and excluded territory.

Feel the cry of the children of the Earth, who fight every day for better days for all humanity.

Recognize the hope of resurrection in the strength, resistance and paths of liberation that the Amazon proposes to the world.

Live new paths for the Church in Integral Ecology, a living and possible bet to which we are all called to convert.

Choose, act, transform the NEW WORLD that announces to us the courage of Jesus.
